Jupiter = Taking Risks, Dropping Bombs
Jupiter in Cancer – Learning/Interpretation/Wisdom

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system lives up to its reputation for exhibiting a really big show, something splashy or a magnified focus on current or disputed issues. It’s playing a gigantic role in US government and policies right now. Think about the big, beautiful bill, the huge birthday parade, and the 14 bunker-buster bombs dropped on Iran. Then there’s the Supreme Court (also ruled by Jupiter), the topmost tier of our judicial system, which has the biggest (and final) responsibility to interpret and adjudicate the law, hopefully with wisdom.
Jupiter is currently transiting Cancer (since 6/9/25) making this the USA’s Jupiter return cycle because it was born with Jupiter in this, the Moon’s sign of Cancer. In addition, Jupiter is the chart ruler of the United States, ruling its Ascendant sign, Sagittarius. The chart ruler is a powerful planet and when it makes changes it affects the direction or expression of the country or person. This means that the once every 12 year Jupiter return for the country is doubly important. The upshot, the bottom line, is that the United States is feeling the need to assert itself and seeks to renew, reshape and redirect its identity and actions based on the currently active philosophical principles swirling.
The day after the Summer Solstice, 6/21/25, The Trump administration dropped 14 bunker buster bombs that only the US has the capacity to deliver, on Iran’s three known uranium and nuclear enrichment facilities. The President called it a huge success. However, the damage done according to many intelligence sources including the Defense Intelligence Agency, did not penetrate far enough into the underground bunkers. Iran’s enrichment program was only set back 3-6 months.
Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism. It’s well known that Iran has proxies (the Houthies, Hezbollah, Hamas and others) across the globe that it supports to reign damage on its enemies. It is repressive to its own people and has stated again and again that it wants to destroy Israel. The two countries had been shooting missiles at each other heavily for the past month and Iran was on its back foot sustaining immense damage from Israeli strikes. It was a perfect opportunity to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability but only the USA had the weapons and the delivery aircraft to do that.
Remember that in his first Administration, Trump tore up the Iran Nuclear Deal brokered by John Kerry’s diplomatic team during the Obama administration in 2015 and agreed to by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany, along with the European Union. By all accounts and with consistent international inspectors, it was working until Trump pulled out of the deal in 2017. Recently, Trump wanted to broker another deal with Iran and began talks.
Directly bombing Iran, a sovereign country is another matter entirely. This, without the support of Congress or w/out knowledge of key Republicans and Democrats. In the midst of supposed diplomatic talks and ongoing meetings with Iran, the USA unleashed the most powerful bombs we currently have and the only planes that can deliver them. The Iranians surely felt double-crossed. Their response could easily now be why shouldn’t we continue to develop a nuclear bomb? We are witnessing excesses and expansion, risk and lack of wisdom, the downside of Jupiter.
In addition to holding a VIP place in the USA chart, Jupiter as ruler of the USA Ascendant, conjuncts the USA Venus and the USA Sun in Cancer too (Cancer represents general well-being of family, community, country). Jupiter represents the law and the philosophies we as a nation aspire to. As a country we have prided ourselves on supporting the rule of law and due process. These are and have been endangered in the current climate while people disappear off the streets of our country taken by armed masked men.
As I complete this article, the US Supreme Court has sent the question of birthright citizenship back to the lower courts to figure out. The SC ruled that the lower court’s ruling allowing an injunction against Trump’s executive order banning birthright citizenship to affect all the States could not stand. Birthright citizenship has been guaranteed for 157 years. We, as a country, are being tested first with Jupiter’s one year stay in Cancer and soon with the start of the country’s Uranus return (a once every 84 yr. occurrence) beginning on 7/7/25. But that’s a story for another day.
