“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.” - Abraham Lincoln
Saturn entered fiery Aries for the first time in 28.5 years on 5/25/25 crossing the 0 Aries point, the start of the natural Zodiac, a key power point. On 7/13/25 at 12:07AM EDT, it turns Retrograde at 1deg. Aries for the first time in its new sign cycle lasting for 2.5 years. We’ve only had a taste of Saturn, the planet of rules and regulations in the impulsive and often aggressive sign of Aries for that short time.
This sign position signifies a new order of things or disorder if you prefer. Saturn the planet of consistency, protocol, time and tradition, respect, accomplishment and mastery in the sign of self-involvement, impetuousness, speed, ego/identity development, newness and assertive/dynamic action is at odds with the basic nature of Saturn. That’s why Saturn is said to be in Fall in the sign Aries and struggles to find its best expression – new initiatives that may lack understanding of consequences or tossing out tradition impulsively in favor of something new. Saturn struggles here to maintain order while the fiery energy of Aries wants to assert its individuality and fight for its right to exist carving its own path. It’s a chaotic situation of competing agendas that somehow must be resolved.
It's typical of slower moving planets entering a new sign to retreat (via retrograde) back to the previous sign, in this case, Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac. Saturn retrogrades back to 25 Pisces, where it turns Direct again on 11/28/25. Essentially, we’ll be retracing the first degree of Aries and the last 5 degrees of Pisces to review the energetic expressions that manifested between 4/5/25 – 7/13/25. For one thing, we’re realizing the experience of a new order emerging in our government and many institutions, including technology and medicine. One of the areas Saturn represents is the government, rules and procedures and how they are applied.
For the short term, it’s important to review Saturn retracing the early Aries degrees and note when Saturn reaches the powerful 0 Aries point again between 8/15 – 9/1/15. What new initiatives will be challenged and what new structures seek to be built?
After retrogressing and turning Direct in motion again, Saturn won’t return to 1 Aries until 3/2/26. We have all this time to fully understand the implications of what happened the first time Saturn transited the degrees we’ve been discussing. That’s actually the beauty and benefit of a retrograde. It retraces a degree segment three times: going forward the first time, stationing, retracing previous degrees, stationing and then going forward again. It’s an immersion to assist us in understanding the dynamic energy contained in that degree segment. Planets in Aries are particularly interesting because it means they are beginning again in the first sign of the natural Zodiac and always indicate something new is being seeded into society and culture and of course your personal life as well.
Worth noting is that Neptune, the second slowest moving planet in the Zodiac is also transiting early degrees of Aries and will be very close to Saturn/Aries making things even more complex between 7/31-8/15/25 when the two are both at 1 Aries. That’s exactly what Neptune does – it can be chaotic and confusing. Combined with Saturn’s intrinsic need for order it creates many episodes of confused policies and even hidden agendas or scandals coming to the foreground.
Here are some USA highlights from the time period we’ve been discussing:
Tariffs: President Trump declared a national emergency related to trade deficits and imposed a 10% tariff on all imports, with reciprocal tariffs for countries with trade surpluses with the US, effective April 5th and April 9th, respectively. This has been modified for various countries multiple times with different tariff percentages, some as high as 50%, the latest date to negotiate tariffs is 8/1/25.
Government Efficiency and Workforce: The President's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) headed by Elon Musk was established with a focus on modernizing federal technology and efficiency. This caused tremendous disruptions all across Federal agencies and major data privacy concerns. Data collection in general seems to have been part of the motive.
Federal Employee Resignations: There were multiple resignations of top officials and hundreds of removals of federal employees, particularly within the Department of Justice, Department of State, IRS, NOA and others. Longtime leaders at FEMA were fired, leading to staffing shortages as hurricane season approaches. These firings are already causing response problems.
Immigration and Border Security: The administration pursued sweeping measures, including strengthening border security and expanding deportations of many who have lived in the country for a long time although illegally, but who have contributed to the economy working in agriculture, hospitality, etc., paying taxes and having no criminal record. These people are being swept up, disrupting families and creating fear in many communities nationwide. Migrants without criminal records have been flown to CECOT, a notorious prison in El Salvador, known to torture inmates. Executive orders targeted "sanctuary" jurisdictions that obstruct federal immigration laws. A new detention center for captured migrants in Florida dubbed Alligator Alcatraz is another step that is alarming & cruel hearkening back to the Japanese internment camps after World War 2.
Energy and Environment: Efforts to expand domestic energy production, including coal, and streamline related regulations were undertaken. An executive order aimed to protect American energy from state overreach by challenging state energy laws and regulations deemed burdensome. There has been activity to sell federal land for oil drilling and other fossil fuel harvesting.
Education Initiatives: Executive orders addressed higher education accreditation and policies concerning international students. It began initiatives again many noteworthy universities, especially aggressive toward Harvard University.
Judicial Rulings: President Trump issued an Executive Order aiming to end birthright citizenship for children born in the US to undocumented parents or those in the US temporarily. The Supreme Court ruled on June 27, 2025, that federal courts exceeded their power by issuing nationwide injunctions against this order. However, a federal judge on July 10, 2025, in a class-action lawsuit, temporarily blocked the implementation of Trump's order nationwide, preserving birthright citizenship for now. Birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the US Constitution.
Other Noteworthy Events:
Protests: The "Hands Off" coordinated protests opposing President Trump's policies on government downsizing, federal worker layoffs, the economy, immigrant protections, tariffs, and human rights were held across the US on April 5th, 2025. The No Kings Rally on 6/14/25 was one of the biggest nationwide efforts to protest Administration policies. Millions of people participated in these demonstrations, which were organized by the No Kings movement. The protests were a direct response to President Trump's planned military parade and aimed to express opposition to what organizers viewed as authoritarian tendencies and policies of the administration. The No Kings protests were one of the largest single-day anti-Trump demonstrations during his second administration, held in 2,000 cities and towns across all 50 states.
Legislation: President Trump signed a significant budget bill ("The One Big Beautiful Bill Act") on July 4, 2025, allocating $170 billion to dramatically expand immigration enforcement, detention, and border security. The bill also increases or introduces new immigration-related fees across nearly all categories, including significantly higher costs for humanitarian immigration applicants like asylum seekers, parolees, and TPS holders. The enormous Bill contains tax cuts for the very wealthy and serious spending reductions in Medicaid and related services for the poor and disadvantaged. It also boosts our Country’s National deficit by trillions.

As a country we must demand accountability (another Saturn word) from our government for actions that are aggressive, overreaching and cruel and not based on sound policies. These are challenging times. Continue to call your senators and representatives.
Personally, if you have planets in the degree range 25 Pisces to 1 Aries and particularly at those Station points or connecting with other planets in your chart, you will feel the need to redefine something important in your life or reinvent yourself to changing circumstances and current goals. Saturn demands decisiveness seeking stability and certainty. In the sign Aries, this is not so easy to achieve. Saturn however can get stronger by meeting and overcoming challenges and being as fully aware as possible of the consequences perceived or unintended by acts and actions. What I’ve discussed above is tailored personally depending on how it is configured in your own birth chart. Contact your astrologer for individual chart clarification.
