Do we know what constitutes a life well-lived? I suppose there are numerous ways to make such an assessment. What we do know is that Rosalynn Carter’s life clearly was well-lived.
The former first lady of the United States and wife of President Jimmy Carter died on 11/19/23 at age 96.
As Jimmy Carter himself has said, Rosalynn was his equal partner. Once the couple decided on a path such as the campaign for Governor of GA, Rosalynn made a point of informing herself on the issues of the campaign. She traveled and made speeches all while raising a family. The couple had three sons and a daughter. She was an activist and writer. Her primary energy was focused on the Equal Rights Amendment for Women, the issues of mental health and caregivers.
